Fort Collins / Lakeside KOA, Fort Collins, CO – near Rocky Mountain National Park and the Fort Collins breweries

Gunnison Lakeside Resort – right in the Curecanti Recreation Area on a huge reservoir and close to Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park and Crested Butte.

Sportsmans Supply Campground, Pagosa Springs, CO

Sundance RV Park - 4 - downtown Cortez, CO shaded RV Park near Mesa Verde National Park, Anasazi Heritage Center, Canyons of the Ancients, much more.


Nevada

Comstock Country RV Resort – large RV park right across the street from several casinos, great for visiting Lake Tahoe, Reno, Virginia City, and historic Genoa.

Hi Desert RV Park – great overnight stop or stay a day or two and enjoy the casinos – there is even one in a Flying J truck stop!

Thousand Trails Las Vegas Resort, Las Vegas, NV

Welcome Station RV Park – small 10 site park right on the Interstate, but quiet.  New owner very cordial and helped us get to the Lamiolle Canyon area.

Cottonwood Cove Resort & Marina - RV Park designed for boaters near Lake Mead & Searchlight, NV

Terrible's Lakeside Casino & RV Resort - casino RV park with beautiful lake and paved campsites near Pahrump, NV and Death Valley National Park


New Mexico


Cactus RV Park, Tucumcari, NM

Cochiti Lake Recreation Area  (COE), Pena Blanca, NM (Santa Fe)

Capulin RV Park – friendly RV park across the street from the Capulin Volcano National Monument. Don’t forget to ask about the all natural beef for sale.

Coachlight RV Park – small RV behind an old motel, but great location for visiting the historic part of Las Cruzes – Mesilla.

Riana Campground (COE - Abiquiu Reservoir) - Corps of Engineer park on Abiquiu Lake north of Santa Fe, NM

Tetilla Peak Rec Area (COE-Cochiti Lake) - Corps of Engineer park between Albuquerque and Santa Fe

Sumner Lake State Park - near Fort Sumner, NM and hometown of Billy the Kid

Sunny Acres RV Resort, Las Cruces, NM (White Sands)


Texas

Atlanta State Park - state park near Atlanta, Texas with beautiful evening sunsets

Balmorhea SP, Toyahvale, TX

Balmorhea State Park – largest spring-fed swimming pool in the world – literally “swim with the fish”

Blanco State Park – Texas state park near LBJ country right on the clear and slow flowing Blanco River  

Buckhorn Lake Resort - near Kerrville, TX, a great resort RV park for a small rally

Caprock Canyons State Park & Trailway - south of Palo Duro Canyons, but still canyons that should be experienced.

Copper Breaks State Park - massive seams [deposits] of copper mined just after the Civil War.


Davis Mountains State Park - our first camping visit here, near Fort Davis Historic Site and the McDonald Observatory

Eisenhower SP, Denison, TX – a Texas state park on Lake Texoma near Denison, the birthplace of Dwight David “Ike” Eisenhower

Hickory Creek COE Campground - Corps of Engineers park on one of the largest reservoirs in Texas near Dallas.

Lake Arrowhead State Park - state park for boaters and fishermen close to Wichita Falls, TX

Lake Bob Sandlin State Recreation Area - near Pittsburg, TX, the park is mainly for fishermen and smaller RV’s, the paved campsites are short.

Lake Somerville State Park & Trailway (Nails Creek Unit) – Texas state park on large lake, large campsites, and beautiful wildflowers in the spring

Martin Creek Lake SP, Tatum, TX – a Texas state park away from it all [except a coal fired power plant]

Palo Duro Canyon State Park - 3 - beautiful Canyons, hikes and the “Texas” evening performance that is awesome!

Potters Creek Park (COE), Canyon Lake, TX (San Antonio)

Seminole Canyon State Historical Park - near Del Rio, TX with hike to pictograph sites

South Llano River State Park – rural state park with great wild turkey hunting in fall or tube down the Llano River in the summer

Stephen F. Austin State Historical Park - near San Felipe, TX, a state park dedicated to the founder of Texas

Stillwell Ranch Campground - near Big Bend National Park and home to Hallie Stillwell, a Texas legend, who wrote the book “I’ll Gather My Geese”

Village Creek State Park – small Texas state park in an urban environment – close to Beaumont

East Bay RV Park – very nice campground near urban Provo and visits to Salt Lake City, BYU and Sundance Resort

Ferber Zion Canyon Campground, Springdale, UT (Zion)

Golden Spike RV Park, Brigham City, UT – a very nice, groomed RV park near Salt Lake and the Golden Spike National Historic Site

Kanab RV Corral - downtown Kanab RV park with plenty of sightseeing close by, including the east side of Zion National Park and the north rim of the Grand Canyon.
