Geneseo Campground– drove the Illinois portion of the Great River Road Scenic Byway

Illinois Beach SP, Zion, IL – an Illinois state park near Chicago, IL

Nauvoo State Park – visited Mormon settlement, Old Carthage Jail, the Dr. Alice Kibbe Museum and old Carthage College campus

Starved Rock SP – Oglesby, IL – Illinois state park, southwest of Chicago, with plenty of hiking and historical tribal significance.


Yogi Bear Yellowstone and Caboose Lake Campground, Indiana – two one-nighters, both near I-75, while passing through Indiana

Charlestown SP - Indiana state park near Louisville, KY and Clarksville and Madison, IN

Brown County SP - Indiana state park, in the heart of Brown County, very historic area

Prophetstown SP - Indiana state park, with working farm, updated campsites and near Lafayette, IN

Indiana Dunes SP - Indiana state park right on Lake Michigan, huge sand dunes and paved sites.

Elkhart Co. 4-H & Agriculture Fairgrounds - site of the final CAT RV Club RV Rally

Pikes Peak SP, McGregor, IA – a unique Iowa state park on the banks of the Mississippi River


Clementz's Northcountry Campground and Cabins – Newberry, Upper MI – totally in the middle of nowhere – no cable, no internet and no cellular service.

Sunday Lake Campground – Wakefield, Upper MI – very nice city owned campground on a small lake in a secluded area of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan

Thousand Trails - St. Clair, MI – a membership campground near the town of St. Clair, just north of Detroit, Michigan

Whispering Pines Family Campground – Mancelona, MI – a true family-run, quiet, well appointed campground – we want to come back here and stay longer.


Gull Lake Recreation Area – visited the Gull Lake Aboriginal Burial Grounds

Highland Ridge COE Campground – visited the Cady Cheese Factory

Sandy Lake CG (COE) – McGregor, MN – very nice campground with boating and other water sports, but the water was COLD, near Duluth.


Windy Hill Golf Club and Camping Resort – Conneaut, OH – very nice small combination campground and golf course near Lake Erie.

Blackhawk Park (COE-Mississippi River Pool #9) – drove the Wisconsin portion of the Great River Road Scenic Byway, town of La Crosse, Wisconsin, World’s Largest Six Pack, and the King of Beers – Gambrinus

Fox Hill RV Park – Baraboo, Wisconsin – well appointed family-run RV Park near the Wisconsin Dells and the town of Baraboo.

Highland Ridge CG (COE) – Spring Valley, WI -  a very nice campground established along with a flood control project, near the Minneapolis area

Lake Kegonsa SP, Stoughton, WI – Wisconsin state park near Madison, WI
