Trip #2 – Minnesota / New England / East Coast USA RV Trip – 6,660 miles – 95 nights

  1 – Road Map – Trip consists of route from Florida to Minnesota, across Upper Michigan to New England, then down the US East Coast   

  2 – Florida Caverns State Park – Marietta, FL – 1 - an  extremely nice Florida state park with terrific underground caverns  

  3 – Cherokee Campground –Helena, AL – 1 - a family campground ideal for an overnight stop  

  4 – Wall Doxey SP – Holly Springs, MS – 1 - Mississippi state park with very secluded campsites and plenty of activities including a 20 disk (frisbee) golf course  

  5 – Town & Country RV Resort – Sikeston, MO – 1 - typical interstate RV park and Sikeston is the home of Lamberts Café – a great eating place.  

  6 – Dam West Recreation Area (COE) – Lake Carlyle, IL – 2 - excellent Corps of Engineers campground and recreation area which attracts boating enthusiasts

  7 – Starved Rock SP – Oglesby, IL – 2 - Illinois state park, southwest of Chicago, with plenty of hiking and historical tribal significance.

  8 – Fox Hill RV Park – Baraboo, Wisconsin – 1 - well appointed family-run RV Park near the Wisconsin Dells and the town of Baraboo.

  9 – Highland Ridge CG (COE) – Spring Valley, WI -  3 - a very nice campground established along with a flood control project, near the Minneapolis area  

10 – Sandy Lake CG (COE) – McGregor, MN – 5 - very nice campground with boating and other water sports, but the water was COLD, near Duluth.

11 – Sunday Lake Campground – Wakefield, Upper MI – 1 - very nice city owned campground on a small lake in a secluded area of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan

12 – Clementz's Northcountry Campground and Cabins – 1 - Newberry, Upper MI – totally in the middle of nowhere – no cable, no internet and no cellular service.

13 – Whispering Pines Family Campground – Mancelona, MI – 1 - a true family-run, quiet, well appointed campground – we want to come back here and stay longer.

14 – Thousand Trails - St. Clair, MI – 2 - a membership campground near the town of St. Clair, just north of Detroit, Michigan

15 – Windy Hill Golf Club and Camping Resort – Conneaut, OH – 1 - very nice small combination campground and golf course near Lake Erie.  

16 – Niagara Hartland RV Resort – Gasport, NY – 3 - a very affordable campground near Niagara Falls, Fort Niagara and the Erie Canal

17 – Adirondack 1000 Islands Camping – Natural Bridge, NY – 1 - nice campground on the eastern side of the large statewide Adirondack Park.

18 – Ausable River Campsite – Keeseville, NY – 2 - near Lake Placid, Plattsburg, and breathtaking Ausable Chasm.

19 – Apple Island Resort – South Hero, VT – 3 - very well appointed campground near Burlington, Stowe, the Trapp Family Lodge, and Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream factory

20 – White Birches Camping Park – Shelbourne, NH - 3 - great location to prospect the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire

21 – Stony Brook Recreation – Hanover, ME – 2 - small, family-run campground in the western Maine area near Rangeley and Sugarloaf Mountain  

22 – Timberland Acres RV Park – Trenton, ME – 5 - large, reasonably priced campground near Acadia National Park, Campobello Island and Penobscot Bay.

23 – Homestead by the River – Biddeford(Saco), ME – 3 - combination farm and campground near Portland, Kennebunk, Kennebunkport and Freeport (L L Bean), Maine.

24 – Boston Minuteman Campground – Littleton, MA – 4 - nice campground near Boston, Salem, Gloucester, Lexington, Concord and Minuteman National Historical Park

25 – Indianhead Resort Family Camping – Plymouth, MA – 4 - small campground near Cape Cod, Plymouth Rock, and the Cape Cod National Seashore

26 – Fishermen's Memorial State Park – Narragansett, RI – 2 - crowded state park with small unlevel sites with low power capacity near the beautiful Newport and Portsmouth area

27 – West Thompson Lake (COE) – North Grosvenordale, CT – 2 - nice quiet campground near Providence and Brown University

28 – Gentiles Campground – Plymouth, CT – 1 - old private campground in a Christian family setting.

29 – Silver Valley Campsites – Saylorsburg, PA – 1- off the beaten path, but very nice campground worth the visit

30 – French Creek State Park – Elverson, PA – 3 - nice Pennsylvania state park near Hopewell Furnace Historic Site, Philadelphia and Valley Forge National Historical Park

31 – Lums Pond State Park – Bear, DE – 1 - nice small campground built around the largest freshwater lake in Delaware.

32 – Hershey Thousand Trails – Lebanon, PA – 6 - membership campground near Gettysburg National Military Park, the Hershey Chocolate factory, and the Pennsylvania Amish area.

33 – Happy Hills RV Park – Hancock, MD – 2 - nice campground near the Antietam National Battlefield and Harpers Ferry National Historic Park  

34 – Robert W Craig COE Campground – Elk Garden, WV – 2 - hard to get to campground in the mountains of West Virginia with nice hiking trails, a large dam, and interesting geology.  

35 – Pohick Bay Regional Park – Lorton, VA – 6 - Virginia regional campground that has lovely, shaded campsites near Washington DC

36 – Thousand Trails – Gloucester, VA – 3 - a membership campground near Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown, Virginia  

37 – North River Campground & RV Park – 2 - Shawboro, NC – family-run, quiet campground near the Outer Banks, Wright Brothers National Memorial at Kitty Hawk, and Fort Raleigh

38 – Neuse River Flanners Beach – New Bern, NC – 4 - near the Crystal Coast of North Carolina, right on the Neuse River

39 – Huntington Beach State Park – Murrells Inlet, SC – 2 - South Carolina state park on the Atlantic Ocean and near Myrtle Beach, and Brookgreen Gardens

40 – Campground at James Island County Park – Charleston, SC – 3 - well appointed county park on James Island near historic Charleston, Fort Sumter and Fort Moultrie

41 – Fort Clinch State Park – Fernandina Beach, FL – 2 - one of our favorite Florida state parks on beautiful Amelia Island on the Atlantic Ocean.


Trip #1 - Georgia and Smoky Mountains RV Trip – 1,909 miles – 67 nights

  2 – Stephen Foster Culture Center State Park – White Springs, FL – 2 - a museum and lots of dioramas on the Foster’s songs  

  3 – FMCA 81st Convention – Perry, GA – 5 - learning and fellowship with fellow RVers

  4 – Indian Springs State Park – Flovilla, GA – 2 - possibly the oldest state park in the USA with a healing springs.

  5 – A H Stephens State Park – Crawfordville, GA – 3 - named for the vice president of the Confederacy, with a neat Confederate museum

  6 – Mistletoe State Park – Appling, GA – 3 - nice trail hikes and lakefront campsites

  7 – Elijah Clark State Park – Lincolnton, GA – 3 - named for General Elijah Clark of Revolutionary War fame

  8 – Hart State Park – Hartwell, GA – 3 - Very nice lakefront campsites and near Elberton – the granite capital of the world

  9 – Victoria Bryant State Park – Royston, GA – 3 - scenic grounds with a golf course and Royston – home of Ty Cobb

10 –Tallulah Gorge State Park – Tallulah Falls, GA – 3 - fabulous gorge that was once crossed on a wire by Karl Wallenda

11 – Creekwood Farms RV Park – Waynesville, NC – 7 - a very nice creek-side park near the Great Smoky Mountains and Ashville

12 – Moccasin Creek State Park – Clarkesville, GA – 2 - great hiking trails and right on Lake Burton

13 – Unicoi State Park – Helen, GA – 3 - great hiking, Anna Ruby Falls and the Bavarian tourist town of Helen.

14 – Vogel State Park – Blairsville, GA – 3 - bubbling creek-side campsites with loads of waterfalls nearby

15 – Amicalola Falls State Park – Dawsonville, GA – 3 - home to the Southeast’s tallest waterfall, steep grade roads leading to campground

16 – Fort Mountain State Park – Chatsworth, GA – 3 - ancient wall that is a mystery as to who built it

17 – Cloudland Canyon State Park – Rising Fawn, GA – 3 - deep canyon near Lookout Mountain in the northwest corner of Georgia

18 – James H. “Sloppy” Floyd State Park – Summerville, GA – 3 - two fishing lakes and a trail to an abandoned marble mine highlight this park

19 – John Tanner State Park – Carrollton, GA – 3 - state park near the town with two lakes and the largest freshwater beach in a state park

20 – F D Roosevelt State Park – Pine Mountain, GA – 3 - near the Little White House Historic Site and Callaway Gardens

21 – Florence Marina State Park / Providence Canyon State Park – 3 - Columbus, GA – nicknamed the little Grand Canyon of Georgia

22 – Kolomoki Mounds State Park – Blakely, GA – 3 - excellent historic mounds and artifacts from the second to sixth century life of Native Americans

23 – Suwannee River State Park – Madison, FL – 1 - newly renovated campground on the Suwannee River

24 – Oscar Scherer State Park – Osprey, FL – 5 - Wonderful state park near Sarasota and Venice Florida, most sites are very private
